A Fall Fat Sunday
I love Fall cooking, soups, stew, comfort, stick to your bone foods! Love, swoon, yummo!
Started out with Egg in a Hole (Hen in a Basket) for breakfast. I don't know why but for some reason this is the best tasting eggs for breakfast, IMHO! So simple, melt butter in the pan, punch a hole in the center of the bread (I use a small glass), put the bread in the pan to start "toasting", crack an egg in the center, salt and pepper. Flip it a couple of times and wala breakfast of champions! Don't forget to toast the center of the bread in the pan at the same time. That is nearly the best part! LOL
For dinner is Golumpki Stoop (Soup/Stew) although I should name it "Drag it through the Garden" Stoop because it is basically what I do. Golumpki is polish for cabbage rolls/pigs in the blanket and I make a soup/stew version of it. Super simple:
1 lb 80/20 burger (or venison burger if you have it)
1 onion
1 small head cabbage chopped up
4 medium potatoes chopped up
2 large carrots chopped up
1 32 oz box chicken broth
2 cans italian diced tomatoes (that covers all the spices needed)
1 cup of rice
favorite dumpling recipe (optional)
brown the burger slightly; throw all of it in a crock pot and put it on high 4 - 5 hours or low 6 - 8 hours; about an hour before it's ready throw a cup of rice in it, about 30 minutes before it's ready I throw dumplings on top

My husband's family has some Polish ancestry and we would sometimes have gawumpkies (spelling?), which are cabbage filled rolls. Always yummy!
